New Al Fresco Glendale Program to Facilitate Outdoor Dining and Retail Activity Public Notice: CDBG-CV CARES Act Funding On April 2, 2020, the City of Glendale’s Community Development Block Grant program received notice from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that City of Glendale will be receiving additional funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) in the amount of $1,175,049 for Community Development Block Grant– Coronavirus (CDBG-CV). CARES Act funding is to be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). The funds are also meant to support additional activities to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19. The allocation of funds from the CDCG-CV CARES Act was discussed during the May 5, 2020 Joint City Council/Housing Authority meeting. Council approved the following: $572,500 in funds will be used for the Rental Assistance Program. This Program will assist low income renters, seniors, and families. Households may not be a part of any other housing assistance program. The assistance will provide $750.00 for two consecutive months, with funds going directly to landlords on behalf of tenants. Selection will be conducted through two computerized lotteries. This will allow those who may have missed the submission deadline a second change to put in their name. $30,049 in funds will be allocated towards the Senior Nutrition Program. The Senior Services Section will provide senior services, food, and supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes Glendale’s Cooling Fan Assistance Program, which provides fans for seniors, and any other need that may arise during this pandemic. $572,50...
